I am thinking he likes the “I haven’t shaved in three days” look.

I work with guys in their 20s, 30s and 40s who do the same. Some of them have sensitive skin and it’s painful to shave every day. I much prefer this look to long, sloppy beards.

I have to let it grow a little. My beard hairs are thick like pencil lead. People don't know what they are talking about if they've never experienced it.

I have baby-fine hair on my head but I grow fucking copper wire out of my face (but not enough for an actual beard.)

I just do not like shaving. I shave Sunday and usually don't shave again until the next Sunday.

If it ain't important enough for Ari to shave, why is it important enough for me to watch?

There was a time when a news anchor absolutely had to be clean-shaven. I don't care if he has a beard, but the in-between look is pretty sloppy IMHO.

His audience is more of a younger one, and they don't care about whether he shaves or not.

I'm finally in style again!

Waaaay back in my bartending days there were some regulars who sported that look. In their case, it was a matter of being unable to hold a razor due to the shakes; unfortunately, they were also unable to bathe or brush their teeth, much to the disgust of other customers who were sometimes known to physically “escort” their noxious neighbors outside for an introduction to a garden hose. So, for me, the look always invokes odiferous memories. ain’t no way for me to look at that and think “oooo, sexy!” That said, it’s just a minor distraction from his otherwise excellent presentation. Oh, well.

If he can't bother to look like a professional, I can't be bothered to watch him. He can already be hard to consider professional sometimes due to his antics. When he chooses to look unprofessional as well, it's just too much.

It's better than the long, scraggly, ungroomed beards that are also popular today, though.

But he loses me when he suddenly starts talking about music - right in the middle of discussions of serious issues ...Bizarre

The show IS called “The Beat”, he is recognizing an underrecognized art form / social commentary, and maybe he brings in some people who otherwise wouldn’t watch MSNBC

I'm guessing that some of his specials are taped, but yesterday he was clean shaven and tonight the stubble was back!

He seems to have attractive, smart women on all the time. And Flannery who cracks me up and. Ackerman is a hoot too. They all know their stuff and don't like Trump.

Guess he thought he looked young and cool.

To me, he looked like a dude just coming off a bender.

Very few guys look good with that look.

So, still somewhat fearing to be dragged through the streets wearing a letter A on my chest, I meekly raise my hand in favor of the shadow beard.

But that's the least of our worries. Ari's brain is first class and he provides good legal insight and that's more important to me than his facial hair.
