Frank LUNTZ- None Of The Republicans "Impressive Enough To Beat Barack Obama"

As the runners for the Republican nomination brace themselves for the rush of primary elections, starting with New Hampshire, one of the party's most respected pollsters and strategists has said [n]none of the hopefuls might be impressive enough to beat Barack Obama.[/n]

Frank Luntz, who will scrutinise every contour of the race with focus groups and polls between now and November, lamented that the party does not have a better field. He cited Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey and Paul Ryan, the chairman of the House Budget Committee, as people he wished had jumped in.

Part of the problem, he said in a recent interview, is that they have "forgotten who their opponent is", and are directing fire at each other instead of President Obama. Their behaviour reminded him of the infighting at the end of John Major's and Gordon Brown's governments.

4. Republicans are being beat by a candidate who has not started firing bullets yet.

When Obama really opens his effort and the truth on Romney comes out, Romney will be seriously damaged by facts. Romney's history on jobs is abysmal and highly destructive to working people who had the misfortune to work for a company that Romney saw a profit for Bain Capital in.

The party of NO IDEAS is also the party of NO GOOD CANDIDATES. No surprise there!

They're all preaching basically the same message: Deregulation of corporations, more tax cuts for the rich, and austerity for everyone else. Are they looking for someone with more personal charm? Paul Ryan has the charisma of a lump of clay, and Chris Christie has, frankly, an issue with his appearance, especially standing next to President Obama. Maybe the problem isn't just the candidates, it's that most Americans don't like their ideas.

13. Yeah, the problem is they're not aiming enough fire at Obama.

If they did that, they'd suddenly be completely different, more impressive people. That's the ticket.
