McConnell backs resolution condemning House impeachment inquiry

McConnell backs resolution condemning House impeachment inquiry
By Jordain Carney - 10/24/19 11:15 AM EDT

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is throwing his support behind a resolution condemning the House impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

Senate Republicans are expected to introduce a “Graham-McConnell” resolution later Thursday “condemning the House of Representatives closed door, illegitimate impeachment inquiry,” per a release from Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) office.

McConnell confirmed to reporters that he will back the measure, saying "obviously I support it."

Graham said earlier this week that he was planning to introduce the resolution, telling Fox News’s Sean Hannity that it “puts the Senate on record condemning the House.

It’s unclear if the resolution will come up for a vote. It would allow GOP senators, who have grown increasingly frustrated with the House, to formalize their opposition. But it would also likely fail to get the 60 votes needed to pass.

1. At some point, don't their voters ever wake up that the GOP party cares about itself first

and it's voters last, dead last.

4. It's funny how they refer to it as 'closed door' as if that's all nefarious ...

When there's still a contingent of Republicans on any committees involved FFS.

On top of that, this is the INVESTIGATION, not the TRIAL portion of impeachment. The House gets to be 'the cops' and the Senate gets to be the 'Judge and Jury' ... so how about you guys SHUT THE FUCK UP and wait your turn, like the CONSTITUTION SAYS?

I wish publications speaking on this subject would point out these facts a bit more often ... I don't expect much from the Hill ... but the MSM often fails to point out these distinctions either.

5. Apparently the Republican version of the Constitution is missing a few sections

Like Article I Section 2 where it says the House "shall have the sole power of impeachment."

The House's response, if any, should be "Stay in your lane, bro."

8. I would like to suggest The Democrats are the Prosecutors not cops

They are the ones who get to draft the Articles of Impeachment after their inquiries are finished.

Don't call us a name! Don't support a primary challenger!

7. Committee member Republicans are sitting in on the closed door hearings.

They're asking questions, getting answers.

They just don't get to grandstand for the cameras and their Master, Herr Trump.

Want to see what open hearings would look like? Just roll the tape of the mob attack on the secure facility in the Capitol. Then multiply it times 10.

They'll get their open hearings. Just not now.

The latest polls show 59% want Trump impeached. No wonder Fat Donnie and his chorus of sycophants are resorting to desperate measures. Expect President "No Wars" to drop a nuke on Tehran as things get hotter. He's already demonstrated he doesn't give a shit about human life by pulling the troops out without notice, leaving the Kurds -- who are our allies -- to get slaughtered.

Probably because what they just got done hearing is nothing that they want the public to know - and nothing that will make their party and its leadership look good. Sharing that kind of information would only speed up the process of getting rid of IQ45!
