Trump's simple strategy to defeat impeachment.

Divide and Conquer.

It's "his people" vs the "evil other". His people are "tough", like the military, the police, the bikers, etc.

It's "Us" vs "Them".

It's not about facts or the truth. It isn't even about high crimes or misdemeanors. It is about Donald Trump and "his People". He believes they are malleable and he can manipulate them any way he chooses. He may be right?

But the only Republicans that matter are those in the US Senate. It is not his "base", the "people" that he appeals to. He has to keep 33 Senators on his side or he loses. Simple as that.

Perhaps he believes that his "base" will keep all those Senators in line? Especially those that are running for re-election next year.?

Look at what the corrupt bastard is trying to sell "the base". Coal? Really? Manufacturing jobs that aren't here anymore because the unions are being demolished and it's cheaper to make things overseas (including for his plastic-faced daughter Istanka)?

And he laughs at the new economy. Technology is bullshit. Wind power is noisy and causes cancer. What a filthy bastard. He's actually killing our environment with every stroke of his Sharpie. He jolts the world with his pullouts and inability to "make deals." And he's pissing off countries who could do substantial damage to our country whether his asshole party believes it or not.

And these suck-up senators just keep falling in line.

What a strange game they're playing. The only endgame here is death, but how are they going to spend all of that ill-gotten money then?

See Snotty Walket and Act 10, and Midwest Republicans driving the urban-rural divide. Trump is just very explicit.

and it will probably work. That's why focus on the election is the best way to get the White House out of Trump's tiny little hands.

If there is an election in 2020, and Donald Trump loses the election, he is not going to leave office.

What are they going to do then?

That is the crisis they will have to face if they do not vote to convict.

They're big on alternative facts. And Fox News is giving them cover.

They're also counting on Sen. Warren to win the nomination, and then they can demonize her as being "too liberal" for the US. I saw that work in 1972 after the Watergate burglary. Plus, they're counting on finding a smoking gun for Hunter Biden, and then, with them, as always, the end justifies the means.

Also, if it looks like she will win (and we all know how wrong polls can be) they'll campaign on "save the country from Elizabeth Warren's liberal makeover of the US, re-elect us as a check on her!" That will work in quite a number of places. In fact, I think that's why even though Hillary Clinton got the most votes in the popular election, it was fear of her policies that swept a lot of GOP'ers into being re-elected in the House and the Senate in 2016.

You don't have to deal with reality as long as you can maintain denial.
