Barr has always been a right wing ideologue. He believes executive privilege knows no bounds, he's a bigoted traditionalist, he pushed for GHWB to pardon Iran Contra perpetrators, he wants the US to incarcerate even more nonviolent offenders than we already do, and he will do anything to help undermine democratic institutions.

He may be doing an elaborate tightrope act while all the Trump investigations are being done. Barr is smart and won’t be implicated in any real instances, IMO.

I think Whitaker was brought in for a quick review of where all the investigations were going and what evidence they had. Then, it was decided they needed an old hand to keep the administration from totally imploding. Barr is providing time.

He could be totally compromised by something Trump has over him. Or, he could be placating Trump until the big takedown. I’m just hoping for the best, I guess. This Trump disaster is the biggest criminal investigation in world history and will probably take 10 years to shake out. Sometimes bad alliances have to be made for the greater good. This may be the case. We can start getting to the bottom of it in about a year.

And agree with your analysis of these characters. IMO, it’s all about the haves worrying about losing their grip on humanity through religion and brainwashing. They don’t want even the tiniest bit of brotherhood or peace to take hold.

The Rapture and Armageddon are the end game.
