Rest in Peace Elijah Cummings

When Ted Kennedy passed, we mourned our "liberal lion" and felt a void where there once stood a fighter. Elijah Cummings, more than anyone else, stepped into that role...and he did it masterfully. My town is in mourning. But so is my country. We have, yet again, lost our liberal lion.

Elijah Cummings knew he was sick. His health problems were "ongoing". He could have spent his last days on a sunny beach with a drink in his hand, but instead he spent his every. last. day. fighting for this country, and what we stand for. When it came down to him or us, he chose US, and generations of children whom he will never meet will be better for it...if we get out of this Russian occupation in tact.

He spoke of the days when we stand before the Gates of Heaven, and what will we say about what we did in 2019. He can say he fought with everything he had...because he did. My heart is *heavy* today. I hope we get through this all. While we had Uncle Elijah, he sure tried. Rest in Peace. Rest in Power. It is unimaginable what we'll do without you, but your example alone will help us on that path.
