I have never found much good to say about Mitch McConnell.

...but I think he should be commended for standing up to Donald Trump and refusing to parrot his lie. He csme straight out and said that he did not remember such a conversation as Donald Trump was talking about?

Since the impeachment articles will be sent to the Senate for a trial, in my opinion, Senator Schumer should make a non-partisan effort to work with McConnell to make the Senate trial as fair and non-partisan as possible.

One good deed deserves another. In this environment, it was no small thing the way McConnell called Trump a liar on live TV. Trump never expected such a response from a Republican.

But Schumer and McConnell need to re-assure the people that this is about our country and our Constitution, not our political Parties.

Had McConnell said, "I remember well my conversations with Donald Trump, and I never said what he claimed; I told him I am very troubled by the Ukraine events" (or something like this), that might have been commendable.

Saying "I don't remember" (which is not believable IMHO) is weaselly and reeks of CYA-ism. Trump can still claim that McConnell said this.

Everything that people are saying on camera is subject to being repeated in a court of law under oath. What else could Mitch do but admit he didn't recall such a conversation especially since it never happened? If he had been definitive in his response that no such call ever happened he'd be entitled for a pat on the back.
