Trump is putting all his chips on Russia.

Why did he get so pissed when the Intelligence Departments informed the people that Russia had interfered in our election? One would have thought he was trying to protect them?

Normally, the American President would have devoted the entire FBI to getting to the bottom of it. He would have put more sanctions on them and denounced it publicly. But Donald Trump did not.

Instead, he got angry. He called it a hoax and a witch hunt. He never had one unkind word for Vladimir Putin? It looked more than just a wee bit suspicious.

Everything he has done since he came into office is for the benefit of Russia. From bad-mouthing NATO and our allies and European leaders to stopping military maneuvers for our troops in South Korea, to deserting our Kurd allies in Syria, to slow-walking aid to the Ukraine military, everything has been for the benefit of Vladimir Putin.

Now, he wants his hand-pick AG to do a criminal investigation to find out the origins of the Russia investigation. As Nancy Pelosi told him to his face, "all roads with you lead to Putin".

If Russia's (Putin's) goal is to disrupt the normal state of affairs in the USA, he will accomplish more by cutting Trump off abruptly from any help from Russia. Trump would collapse almost instantly and things in this country would be thrown into turmoil. If he wanted to accelerate the process, he could suddenly reveal the kompromat he has on Trump and, perhaps, others in the Republican party.

The result would be a much speeded up impeachment process, leading to a mad scramble to reorganize and execute a power change. In the confusion, Putin would have a pretty free hand to execute his own plans.

So, Trump is praying that Putin will continue to offer support in Trump's last-gasp attempt to preserve his own power.

If Putin thinks that ploy will fail, he might just pull the rug out from under Trump and do something like invade the Crimean peninsula during the ensuing confusion. Putin is evil, but he's smart. Count on him to do the thing that benefits him, regardless of who else suffers.

There's a strong chance that Russia will throw additional monkey wrenches into the works of the United States of America. He can do that very easily at this particular moment.
