She is hugely gutsy
Nowhere near a TV right now.

Rachel just spent her A-block talking about it, and is now interviewing Ronan.

NBC has to now live up to the truth, and "NBC scandal," that she and Farrow now present to the public.

(15,682 posts)I can't help but wonder if she's okay with ending her time at MSNBC at this point. Gutsy is right.

(86,674 posts)I was expecting her to say she was leaving. But then, she's one of their biggest draws and would suffer immensely if she did. They had to approve of this interview, even if she had to beat them over the head with threats of quitting.
She's fearless, really.

(86,674 posts)perhaps there will be a mutiny threatened of he doesn't leave. I would be pissed if the public's view of my honest work was diminished by executive decisions. I would imagine there might be some changes coming at the network in the near future.

(3,363 posts)Ronan Farrow is basically banned from NBC shows. The exception is Rachel Maddow. She's the only one able to get him booked, because she has so much power at NBC, they won't touch her. She's their #1 show. She's their highest paid anchor. They're not going to punish her over this.

(8,055 posts)I have Rachel DVR'd and will watch it in just a little while. Rachel is absolutely fearless. I don't think she wants to go anywhere because She LOVES her job (I've heard her in various interviews talk about her work and her love for her work). I would think that the upper level management had to have known that Ronan was going to be on the show.
That's what I was thinking when she was talking about NBC. Whoa, Rachel--you're going to get yourself fired.
Kind of reminded me of Olbermann. I remember seeing her on his show the first time. She looked terrified.

(4,103 posts)The story is out there so it's in NBC's best interest to let it be told by Rachel Maddow in full, since her audience is not going anywhere, rather than have to deal with it on the Today Show or NBC Nightly News where they could potentially lose mainstream viewers by having to deal with it there.

(80 posts)...And be released from their confidentiality agreements. Ronan praised the network for their transparency. Rachel interviewed her execs and gave their statements. They said they wished they'd broken the story. It was very balanced and Ronan thought the network set an example he wished others would follow. My assessment was that it was a good story where all parties were fairly represented and complimented for what they did right.

(183 posts)Many have left the MSM and gone on the internet. Keith, Conan, sports people all have sites, pod casts and ADVERTISERS. It works for Lush and snake oil Jones, we need to start flooding social, pod, and anything else. One more try at radio would be nice. Rachel, if dismissed, could be a beacon on every other platform. Rachel radio, sounds nice.

I have 3 must-watch news programs that get DVRd, all women anchors: Katy Tur, Nicolle Wallace, and Rachel Maddow. I have often praised them here -- each different, each in her own way excellent.
Let me say it again: yes, we women do bring a different perspective to whatever discussion is going on.
