I'm sure you've heard all about it, but the joy this clip brings is a thing of national pride.

Trump attended World Series game five at Nationals Park in Washington, DC last night, and while the patriotic crowd wildly cheered the veterans who appeared on the Jumbotron, the president got a decidedly different reaction: Loud, sustained boos and chants of "Lock him up."

And yet? Certain Democrats and supposedly left-leaning media types can't wait to spoil our patriotic fun.

(29,676 posts)We love a good chant. We also love that scene in the movies where the little guy finally tells off the bully.

When I see Americans acting like booing the president and the Hong Kong demonstrations are "inappropriate," I want to put them in a time machine and send them back to interact with George Washington and Nathan Hale.

(1,604 posts)It's my belief that the sign that liberals are increasingly eschewing the high road is an indication that enough is enough and things are turning ugly for the conservatives. American politics is weird. Republicans tend to define themselves very specifically, while Democrats usually tend to fall into the "Not a Republican" camp, which means that it normally doesn't have as much cohesion.
What I'm seeing now, though, makes me believe that Democrats are finally coalescing. They are not taking the moral high ground, because they've seen how this ends up playing into GOP hands. They are recognizing that when the other side cheats, the only way to win is to take the fight to them - by playing intelligently, by not backing down, by being vigilant, and by refusing to let them dictate the rules of the game.
You don't defeat a narcissist by acceding to him or her. You defeat narcissists by shaming them, by exposing them, by ridiculing them. Trump has enabled a narcissistic culture to arise. We have to show, collectively, that we do not fear the bully, but instead view him with contempt. Is it the moral high ground? No. Is it what we have to do to rid the country of Trump and his minions? Absolutely.

(20,631 posts)to how this country is viewed throughout the world by those outside of it. So many of these people have, I'm sure, been utterly mystified at best, by the notion that so many could step forward and cast a vote for this cretin for de facto leadership of the free world. I have no doubt it was a galvanizing moment for so many that simply wondered HOW this happened; it certainly was for me!!

I'm not sure why a) some seem to think he's left-leaning just because he's on MSNBC (and/or anti-Trump), and b) why people take anything he says seriously.

(8,051 posts)Booing the current occupant of the White House during the Russian Occupation is about all about respect for the office of the a President of the United States and calling out the person who has brought shame and disgrace to that office.
Lock him up!!!
