Reflecting on the 2012 RNC, I added new words to the Eagles' classic:
VERSE
The Middle Class will find out all too early
That theyll need to open cans of cheap cat food
But a rich young man like me won't have to worry
Cause Ill not be the one whos gettin screwed
Late at night Ill be sitting and Ill be sipping
A glass of wine that costs a princely price
But the Middle Class will only have warm water
Cause they wont have the coin to buy the ice
So I tell them that theyll need to give up programs
That help them when their living standards down
But now they know I havent been so truthful
One look in my eyes and they know Im a lying clown
CHORUS
I can't hide my Ryan eyes
And my smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now I'd realize
There ain't no way to hide my Ryan eyes
Here's the original (from 1975):

"You can't hide your Ryan Eyes,
And your smile is a thin disguise,
I thought by now you'd reali-i-ize
There ain't no way to hide your Ryan eyes..."
"My, oh, my, you sure know how to arrange things,
You set it up so well, so carefully,
Ain't it funny how your new lies didn't change things,
You're still the same ol' (PATHETIC LYING MASSIVE PILE OF SHIT!) you used to be."

Good job! Between the two of us we almost have all three stanzas "rewritten" to reflect the GOP Zeitgeist.
[font size="1"]On a personal note, this song came out the same year I graduated from college. I took a job to "relax" for a couple of years and ran with friends who enjoyed camping in the desert or having evening beach parties (this was in southern California). We talked, laughed, drank beer, smoked cannabis, sought out potential objets d'amour, and listened to music like The Eagles and Gustav Mahler symphonies (we were very eclectic). "Lyin' Eyes" has always reminded me of that era.
