Election Night 2019 Was An Unmitigated humiliating Disaster For Republicans

Election Night 2019 Was An Unmitigated Disaster For Republicans

A humiliation in Kentucky

Of course, the most headline-grabbing result of the night came in Kentucky, when incumbent GOP Gov. Matt Bevin lost to his Democratic challenger Andy Beshear.

There are two things in particular that make the Republican loss so humiliating: 1. Trump won Kentucky by 30 points in 2016; and 2. The president dropped into Kentucky the night before the election, a sign that he was certain he could sway voters in the deep-red state.

Trump and his blindfolded loyalists are playing damage control on Wednesday by pinning the loss on Bevin, saying it had nothing to do with the president. But the night before the election, Trump made it clear the race was about him, saying, “If you lose, they’re going to say Trump suffered the greatest defeat in the history of the world. This was the greatest. You can’t let that happen to me.”

In other words, Trump knew the Kentucky race was a referendum on him – because he wanted it to be. Turns out that strategy gave Democrats an upset win a deep-red state.

As CNN points out, that doesn’t just give Democrats a chance to shape the agenda, but it also puts them in control of the redistricting process following the 2020 Census. - PoliticusUSA

...including his son, say that they won almost every other race down ticket. Is this true? It’s sad that anyone would still be supporting the GOP. So, what’s the big picture? We won the governorship; what’s the rest of the state looking like?

At the Orange Menace Hate Rally, the stage was shared with several other local Repugs running for office who all won. Kentucky is still very Red, but as the commentators last night said, Bevins have been running around for four years behaving as someone trying to loose an election and last night Kentucky granted his wish..... Sweet.

that really can't be over emphasized. But .. that doesn't let Trump off the hook for a humiliating defeat. He trotted out his coattails .. publicly made the race about "him" .. and then the coattails turned out to be about two inches long. FAIL.

That part of the brain is missing, along with the conscience and the part that includes ethics and honesty.

Which is why many of them are so entrenched. They're up against an entire life's believe system that is based on a lie and they know the reality is, when pressed, they're having to come to terms with it.

I know first hand, because I'm humiliating them constantly, pointing this out. "Your whole world view, your entire life's beliefs have been based on a lie!" They turn red and shake. They have no comeback. They are dead in the water and I know it.

about yesterday's Blue wins.

The reaction I have sensed on the Net has been 'meh' and I find that very disappointing. Again, the media is all about moving on with no recognition of what a big deal yesterday was.

It just makes me sick.
