The pitty pot-it is strong in this one...
He spent the 1st 2 hours of his show whining incessently about getting shoddy treatment on a American Airlines flight...
"My flight attendant nearly -- merely barked the word 'breakfast' when he came to me. When others were politely asked if they cared for anything to eat and given the choices, I was just barked at. When he delivered a soda, he slammed it down so hard, I hesitated to even open the can for fear that it would spray all over other passengers in the cabin. By the way, the other passengers, nobody else had to open their can. He opened it and poured it for them. Never once did he look me in the eye. Never once did he offer a kind or even a neutral word to me. I had service unlike I have never had ever before in my life, and I have had rude service before. I lived in New York City. I have never had service that was specifically designed to make me feel subhuman. Oh, I had it. He put on quite a show as he fawned over the other passengers proudly and loudly performing his life story about being a former Israeli soldier and how he was so proud of the very liberal cities in America."
Poooh widdle Becky...
Sadly he's only doing this to get the flight attendant fired....I hope it falls on deaf ears..
He also admitted to raising a fuss after getting off the plane(temper tantrum more likely-guess he needed his banky & a nap)...I'd love to see the security footage of that!!!

(41,988 posts)He'd better be glad that soda wasn't open. No telling WHAT could end up in there.
"Former Israeli soldier"? Cometo think of it he's VERY lucky.

(39,961 posts)I find it to be justice. No matter how much money you have, if you are a complete asshole like Beck, people are going to take you down a peg however they can. It's called social justice. I hope they spat in his food, and everywhere he goes there is a "surprise" waiting for him in everything he buys. Hit him where it hurts the most - in his ability to buy shit with the money he swindled people out of.

(8,556 posts)But it sounds like unprofessional conduct on the part of the flight attendant. Every ticket holder deserves the same treatment. He deserves neither special treatment nor inferior service. He should get the same service everybody else does.

(39,961 posts)I wouldn't piss on Glen Beck if he was on fire, and I'd imagine a significant portion of the US feels the same way.
His digs that the guy was a former Israeli soldier isn't going to endear him with people that have actually been soldiers, in the US, or otherwise, considering that Beck hasn't served a day in his life. If he got shitty service, it's because he has done a shitty disservice to this nation and he fucking well deserves it no matter how much money he has in the bank.
Again, I'd say piss on Glen Beck, but I wouldn't if that idiot was on fire, and I wouldn't waste the energy if he wasn't because Glen Beck is a loser not worthy of my attention.

(20,600 posts)being rude to Beck, in my book. Beck deserves every ounce of scorn and rudeness from customer service people or the public in general for his antics.
Because he has been scornful of everyone that isn't wealthy and that doesn't believe in his crackpot claptrap. I hope that he gets handed this treatment everywhere he goes, because he has certainly encouraged others to offer it, and started a movement based upon being shitty to people that were of lesser means or believed differently than he does.
I have no sympathy for that sanctimonious asshole in the least. He is just reaping what he has sown.
I travel around and listen to people around the world liberal, conservative, tea party, progressive et al... Are there morons everywhere... why yes. There are rich morons, there are poor morons and they come in every color and economic background. There are natural morons and people who choose to be morons. When someone is naturally "not so smart" they deserve your sympathy, consideration and help. Those who choose to be and remain morons either through building a palace of dogmatic glass panes or just plain laziness are fair game.
My take on Glenn Beck:
- He comes from the radio biz and has the gift of gab. If he wasn't doing political commentary he might be one of the most successful top jocks funny and irreverent.
- He spends a lot of time reading and educating himself and has developed an appreciation for history and a set of values that guides him on his path through life.
- He preaches self reliance, love, respect and honor among all people and nations.
- He is a zealot and comes across as a lot of zealots do... Being blinded by his ideals... The good thing is that his ideals seem to be for the good of all.
- He can be sanctimonious... but that is fairly universal in the political and political commentary world... take a look at this forum.
I don't know the man, I don't agree with everything he says, but I don't think he is a bad or evil person. Now if he starts calling for revolution, violence, etc... then I might change my mind. Until then he is just espousing his opinion. Clearly you and I like to do that as well...

(5,624 posts)Beckerwood is a god damn racist, conspiracy theorist, and a fucking hateful son-of-a-bitch. I've watched his programs before, they are quite similar to Orwell's "2 minutes of hate" as described in 1984.

If you are still reading this, Sea Tiger... I agree, Glenn Beck is NOT an evil or bad person. He is just a political performance artist who is able to tap into something within the psyche of RWers. He is like the old time snake oil charlatans who played peoples emotions like a fiddle while getting the crowd to believe heaps of bullshit. How can you not see right through that?

(35,015 posts)Beck talks about "put[ting] poison" in Pelosi's wine. In 2009, Beck's Fox News show featured a segment in which Beck said the following to a woman wearing a mask of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi:
BECK: So, Speaker Pelosi, I just wanted to -- you gonna drink your wine? Are you blind? Do those eyes not work? There you -- I want you to drink it now. Drink it. Drink it. Drink it.
I really just wanted to thank you for having me over here to wine country. You know, to be invited, I thought I had to be a major Democratic donor or a longtime friend of yours, which I'm not.
By the way, I put poison in your -- no, I -- I look forward to all the policy discussions that we're supposed to have -- you know, on health care, energy reform, and the economy. [Glenn Beck, 8/6/09]

(2 posts)It is foolish to laugh this off. Supporting people who act poorly only attracts those kinds of people to your fold until that becomes your culture. Based on some of the replies here... well, the proof is in the pudding. I would not like to be treated this way because my wife is black or because my cousin traveling with me has downs syndrome. Additionally, if you like American Airlines you should hope that they fire this fellow and apologize, otherwise they will do damage to themselves. No body wants to be treated this way and they will vote with their feet. And in this case they have picked on a man with a big mouth and a big microphone. How stupid is that?
Down with hate.

(12,272 posts)We are intolerant of intolerance. Maybe Glenn can manipulate this incident to make it seem like the attendant deserves to be let go. But even from his hyperbolic rant, all I can see is an attendant that failed to fawn on his whiny ass. Let this sell-out moran go on the air and tell his limited and delusional listeners how AA employs someone who didn't bow to his candy-coated greatness. They may share his indignant stance and the next time they fly AA, because it offers the best fare, they may attempt to show their distaste. Somehow I doubt anyone will actually care.
Oh, and see ya, wouldn't wanna be ya.
