(23,272 posts)From his work creating "The Coalition for Political Honesty," which enabled insurgents to break even with corrupt machine-affiliated incumbents with the support of only half the number of voters to the Citizens Utility Board, a consumer watchdog organization.
He's signed jobs bills, ethics reform, championed more green energy bills for the State of Illinois than just about any other governor PLUS he abolished the death penalty in IL.
He couldn't be any more of a Democrat and has always been an outsider to the corrupt Illinois political system (maybe that's why you don't like him?)

(13,421 posts)Quinn was booed at the State Fair Dem day. This guy is cutting human services and teacher pensions right and left, and he's all but ass fucked SEIU and AFSCME here in Illinois with the cuts he's made. I'm not even gonna start on what he's attempted to do with state employee retirement benefits.
A small correction to you statement about Quinn, the death penalty in Illinois was put to a halt under a Republican Governor--now serving time for corruption (along with the infamous Blago.)
Quinn is NO hero, and it is not a small coincidence that he's the Dem Governor of Obama's home state, and he did NOT even merit anything close to a prime time slot as the convention.
Your shot at madrchsod was out of line. WAY out of line.

(Who LIVES in Illinois and is part of the "corrupt" branch of the Illinois Dems who really think Quinn is a piece of shit.)

If you think Quinn is some kind of devil incarnate, then I'd question YOUR Illinois credentials. Quinn isn't some kind of tea bagger lite. He's an outsider who's trying to manage Illinois' massive debt problems. I'd say its a badge of honor that he WASN'T in any kind of place of honor for IL politicians at the Dem convention. Blago HATED him. Obama does come out of that machine however much "we" don't want to acknowledge that.
