A tale of 2 NFL QBs

"Just from a look at their career numbers, it makes no sense.

Kaepernick’s are better: the 88.9 passer rating, 58 percent completion rate, 72 TDs, 30 INTs in 58 starts.

Vick’s numbers: the 80.4 passer rating, 56.2 percent completion rate, 133 TDs, 88 INTs in 115 starts.

So, you welcome Vick back after the dogfighting ring, the time in prison.

And you treat Kaepernick like the criminal for kneeling.

I’m not taking into account here that Kaepernick’s crime is making you think of racial injustice, which the NFL, its rich white owners, rich white TV broadcast partners, would rather not think about themselves, as their sponsors hawk their beer, pizza and new cars at you in between offensive possessions.

At least we know where they’re drawing the line."

The Department of Defense spends a ton of money waving the flag at NFL venues.

4. That's far from a perfect, or even apt, comparison.

The author is comparing Vick's career stats to Kaepernick's career stats...rather than comparing Vick's pre-ban (the ban being that he was in prison) stats to Kaepernick's. The author is also completely disregarding rushing stats. Vick rushed for over 1000 yards the year before he went to prison.

I have no doubt NFL teams have intentionally stayed away from Kaepernick, even though Kaepernick is good enough to be on an NFL roster.

However, the difference between Vick and Kaepernick is that Vick was good enough to be a starting QB, and a really good one, before he was imprisoned. It wasn't unreasonable for the Eagles to think that what he might contribute on the field would be worth any bad publicity they might receive from signing him.

Kaepernick, on the other hand, was a backup QB when he was released. I don't think it's unreasonable that a team would choose to avoid the distracting publicity that signing him would bring, when the only benefit would be to have a better backup QB than they already have.

Mike Vick wasn’t out there for his arm.

That said, it’s ridiculous no one is taking a shot at Kap, unless he’s still making insane money demands. Most QBs in this league are fucking awful.

And Kaepernick saying the orange shitstain and Hillary are the same leaves him in the same boat imo. YMMV.

8. The NFL is a mess right now. The AFC is completely non-competitive

The old guard that made the NFL has all passed away. It's mostly owned by billionaires now that own teams for vanity projects. Most of them care about winning less than they care about the resell value of the team. It shows in the product on the field which is frankly horrid most of the time. Particularly in the AFC which really has a handful of teams and the rest if fodder. Given that, it's no surpise none of this era of ownership wants to take on Kapernick. They're not there to win. They're there to show off their wealth.

May well have his health intact, while still having a large sum of money. Plus he is still marketable.

The fact that it's been going on 3 yrs should make it a scandal.
