Can we talk about that Peleton ad?

It just strikes me as creepy. The woman is super-thin to start with, but her husband (I presume he’s her husband) gives her a surprise gift that sends the message “you need to lose weight.” Then she looks horrified at having to use the bike, but at the end, she comes across as a Stepford wife, so happy that her life was changed because she dropped from 120 pounds to 110 pounds.

Maybe I’m overreacting? If so, I’m far from alone. Their stock has dropped as a result of the ad.

But it's pretty hard to directly correlate the ad to a drop in the stock price.

Just the one on the commercial is funny enough, though they didn’t mean it to be lol.

Get her a mop, a broom, an iron, and an ironing board too. Keep your woman busy and she won't have as much energy to sass you.

It's a $2000 toy. I don't expect them to pitch this to the Walmart crowd.

He would have done better buying me a vacuum cleaner than that. No way it is not a statement that she is "not slim enough for him". Bad bad bad ad.

The ad was introduced on November 21--Peloton's stock price was 29.80

The stock price climbed to a peak of 36.84 by this past Monday. It dropped Tues, along with the rest of the market, closing at 33.48. Its climbing back up a bit today (33.90 as I type this).

I go to the room, get on a bike and do a 25 minute interval workout while listening to music.
I don't need a super-fitness motivational coach yelling at me on a tv screen.
I don't get this whole thing.
Yes, it is hard to motivate yourself for exercise sometimes, but that usually has to do with making time and getting on the equipment.
Once you are on the bike, you are already doing your work.

A woman giving an account of a ride in her Toyota mini-van. (I won't put it in quotes, because I don't know the exact wording.)

It was dark, and it was raining. It was just me and the kids. I know I should have been afraid. But because I was in my Toyota mini-van, I wasn't. I felt safe.
