(33,349 posts)I missed the first half hour and was able to get the missed highlights by reading the first thread.
I'm not on dialup, but it feels like it sometimes. It takes several seconds for the OP to display as my slow carrier looks up youtube, etc.

But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it; that does not make sense! Why would a Wookiee, an 8-foot-tall Wookiee, want to live on Endor, with a bunch of 2-foot-tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense!"

(1,850 posts)Im betting that a further point could have been made by pointing out that everything he was about to add had no bearing on the actual impeachment hearings.
This is like Christmas for me today, i didnt even know this was going to be televised! I absolutely love how the democrats seem to have decided to treat the republicans accordingly, and conduct the entire proceedings as if it were under the banner of the XXXX for Idiots guides.

(129,062 posts)Nadler referenced House Resolution 660 - which is what the Intelligence Committee used (I think there was a section in there that did reference the Judiciary Committee but it was not as detailed as the Intelligence rules.

(1,287 posts)I think its quite typical. When my cousin (a sports economist) had to testify regarding college athletes being paid, only the Ds asked him any questions. This was a few years ago when the Rs had the majority. They had 3 witnesses on their side (one was Ken Starr who was President of Baylor at the time.) The Rs didnt ask my cousin one question.

(4,982 posts)When Sondland described that Ukraine didnt actually have to investigate for corruption, that they only had announce such. She went on to say that this showed it wasnt about corruption, but only the appearance of pursuing dirt on a particularly hard political opponent.
Further, she said that the Constitution is indifferent about who is the next president. It only cares about the three elections. I took this to mean the Constitution doesnt exist to protect tRumps re-election.
Ill rewatch this section from ~ 11:52am ET. Is so good.
On edit: added "the appearance" as that more correctly conveys Karlan's sentiment within my rather rough paraphrasing. Thanks, Hermit-the-Prog, for catching that drop!

Hehhhh, dog will hunt language. Bleh. Is trying to narrow the definition of bribery down to say you cant ever accuse a president of bribery. Is logic from the same legal circles that have made it increasingly difficult to exact justice in a political environment awash in outsized influences from the wealthy and power hungry.
