We call Bolton, Nunes, Mulvaney and Rudy. Let`s see how that goes for them under oath.

(15,149 posts)It appears that we will have our own prosecutor - maybe Adam Schiff!!! - who may have some control of that. We shall see.

(6,960 posts)... I think, not the Senate Republicans.
I'd love to see the Trump defense call Schiff, that would be great for the prosecution (it won't ultimately happen).
And why would the Bidens be called? This isn't about them. Likewise Pelosi ... the Chief Justice would have to hear both sides on witnesses and for his own reputation he will want to be circumscribed and adhere to the rules.

(7,800 posts)The Senators are the jury. They can't decide who the Managers/Prosecutors can call.
The president is entitled to defense lawyers, who can call additional witnesses.
Any rulings that have to be made will not me made my Moscow Mitch, but by Chief Justice Roberts.
I'm not sure that Roberts wants to help Trump get off - because he will then effectively become Dictator for life (upon stealing his re-election) and there will be no use for a Supreme Court - or any legitimate courts at all.

Sure, roberts is the judge, but in this process the defense team gets to call the shots with 51 votes. They can even over rule the judge.
In order to keep this to two weeks, they can't allow an extensive list of witnesses. Those they allow will be stacked just like turley.
It will be a chorus of what they want to see, hear, and say.
So expect whomever trump wants, and nobody we want.
Sure, the impeachment manager will get to make a presentation, but without witnesses, what will it matter?
And if schiff is called as a witness, he can't be the impeachment manager. Which is why they will call him.

(6,317 posts)I wonder what questions would be asked? As it is a trial questions would have to be on topic. He won't be asking anyway. All bluster.

(58,709 posts)1. Repubs won't do it, they know that those are all prosecution witnesses who will kill it under oath.
2. They won't actually demand this, but they'll scream bloody murder that they "weren't allowed" to call witnesses.
3. RW echo chamber will blare endlessly how "unfair" it all was.
4. They'll declare victory no matter what happens.

(6,913 posts)Although Schiff said he was paraphrasing Trump, Trump keeps screaming Schiff lied about him, and puffing up with righteous indignation. He thinks about it a lot.

Although it should be interesting to see how much control John Roberts exercises in the Senate trial?
