Impeachment watch: Trump says asking Ukraine to investigate Biden was good for US

Trump is now saying his demand that Ukraine investigate the former vice president was for the good of the American people, not himself.

Donald Trump has moved on to a new defense as he tries to ward off what looks like inevitable impeachment charges: He claims his demand for an investigation of former Vice President Joe Biden was actually for the greater good, not his own political benefit.

"When I said, in my phone call to the President of Ukraine, 'I would like you to do US a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it.' With the word 'us' I am referring to the United States, our Country," Trump tweeted Wednesday night. "I then went on to say that 'I would like to have the Attorney General (of the United States) call you or your people.....' This, based on what I have seen, is their big point - and it is no point at a all (except for a big win for me!). The Democrats should apologize to the American people!"

However, Republicans never sought an investigation into Biden when Biden was vice president, nor when Republicans controlled the House, Senate, and White House for the first two year's of Trump's tenure.

He could have gotten his DOJ or FBI to investigate.

He could have gotten Barr or Durham to investigate Biden and Burisma.

But, he didn't.

He is incredible. I can just see him as a little boy concocting stories to get himself out of trouble...probably the reason he ended up in military school. The parents couldn't control him.

Its over. The (R)'s have met. They are picking someone right now. There is no way the Senate wont convict him at this point. He has 100% admitted to everything and this laughable nonsense is another nail.

I am sure a lot of people think this might be critical. Because, you know he didn't come up with this on his own. Did Russia feed him and his gang of thugs? When did his machinations decide to keep proper embassy people in the dark, and then make up dirt on and then give the ambassador the boot? The time-line is quite fuzzy, making me believe there was a lot of grand planning that went into this by #TrumpsGangOfThugs

"do us a favor though" as of yesterday, now means: "do United States a favor though"? Is that it now spur foot? It doesn't make grammatical nor common nor timeline sense. As in no sense at all.
