Karen Pence, wife of Vice President Mike Pence, was reportedly “livid” about that infamous “Access Hollywood” tape that surfaced a month before the 2016 presidential election.

Reporter Tom LoBianco, who covered Pence for The Associated Press and Indianapolis Star, reveals in his new book “Piety & Power: Mike Pence and the Taking of the White House” that Karen Pence was very unhappy with the recording.

“Karen ... ‘was livid’ at Trump’s prurient comments in the ‘Access Hollywood’ tape,” The New York Times wrote in a Friday morning article covering LoBianco’s book. “But her husband concluded it was too late to drop off the ticket.”

On election night, LoBianco reports in his book, Karen Pence refused to kiss her husband.

“‘You got what you wanted, Mike,’ she told him. ‘Leave me alone,’” The New York Times reported.

I suspect Mrs. Pence views herself as a highly moral person who always tries to do the right thing. Is being Mrs. Vice President good enough for her to compromise her deeply held religious beliefs? Does that question occur to her, and if so, how does she answer it?

Back in early 2017 during one of the first Trump send ups on SNL, Baldwin's Trump tossed out what has become one of my favorite lines of all time. Trump hugs Pence and says, "I love you Mike. You're the reason why I'll never be impeached."
I mention this because I think with Pence now tainted and the very real threat of Trump's and Pence's impeachment looming, the Republicans will not run Pence on the ticket in 2020. With Trump's "insurance policy" under threat, they will run someone who isn't involved in any of the current controversy and basically protect their conservative judge confirming mill. Republicans will never allow a President Pelosi if they have anything to say about it, even if that means having Pence resign ahead of the election - or if the Senate Republicans begin to break rank during the upcoming trial.
Speaker Pelosi knows she is far more powerful as Speaker than as President and probably won't run (similar thinking that kept Teddy Kennedy as Senator). But the goal here, while it is a very nice fantasy, should be to render that whole Pelosi Presidency idea moot. We must turn out in unprecedented numbers again and unseat these swine.
