Our mystery speaker(s) announced:

Report: Portman, Johansson, Washington to speak at the DNC

Actresses Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Kerry Washington have been lined up to speak Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention, according to a tentative schedule supplied to CNN.

A source told the news network the trio, all vocal supporters of President Barack Obama, would appear on stage together after a performance by the Foo Fighters.

The surprise nature of the appearance would make Portman, Johansson and Washington the Democratic equivalent of Clint Eastwood, who was the “mystery speaker” at last week’s Republican National Convention.

Actress Eva Longoria, a national co-chair of Obama’s campaign, is already scheduled to speak Thursday.

It is important to make supporting Obama look fun and mainstream, and the 125th speech by a pol doesn't do that

Still, I rather have Betty White or... wishful thinking John Huntsman who seems to be one of the few somewhat sane Republicans left.

Duuuuuude! I loved Natalie Portman's voice in those Star Wars movies as she played the part of Queen and Senator Padme Amidala.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if Skinner and Elad could get a shot of her and Senator Lieberman(Palpatine) together!

Sarah Michelle Geller is pro-choice, pro-marriage equality, and said she doesn't like organized religion. The only reason I think she's sometimes listed as a "Republican" on those lists is because of her stance on guns/RKBA.

Here's her saying she's "thrilled" about the election in 2008 two days after Obama won:

If people seriously think that only republicans care about the RKBA, then they are seriously out of touch with many of their fellow dem's. Thanks for this.

EDIT: Hmm, I said "seriously" a lot in this post....

I know, I know- so MUCH worse than hob-nobbing with
the fascist corporate elite...like the the Koch brothers.

Any movie star has to worry about boycotts and threats* if they do a partisan political event. The former would potentially cut into box office receipts, and the latter would be even worse.

So this action is more noteworthy than it appears at first glance.
