'We've seen enough': More than a dozen editorial boards call for Trump's impeachment

The headline the New York Times editorial board settled on was simple: “Impeach.”

The same could be said of the “damning” case laid out against President Trump, the Times said Saturday, as it joined a growing roster of more than a dozen national and regional newspapers that argue that the Senate should take up convincing accusations of “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

The opinions of major publications are divided as the House prepares for a historic vote Wednesday, and a host of traditionally more-conservative editorial boards have yet to weigh in — including several that snubbed Trump in 2016 by conspicuously breaking from long histories of Republican endorsements.

Many papers backing impeachment have described a slow-building choice amid hearings into whether Trump abused his position to pressure a foreign power for personal political gain.

This is a time in our history where the free press can make a big difference. Their survival is also at risk.

are opposed because they know it is already rigged.
that doesnt strike me as a very good reason at this point.

notion that “impeachment is a waste of time” truly escapes me. The idea that anyone is more concerned about “what are you doing for me today Congress” is mind boggling. What is more important than securing and sustaining our democracy?

However, scanning the whole newspaper I noticed but one political column - and that dealt with trump's call to the EPA for toilet investigation, [no commentary, just trump's call to the EPA].

That suggests that even a liberal leaning Globe, in a Dem city, of many educated voters - the trump issues are still not on the front burner. Anecdotally, in talking to some up there, and my general sense, is that many citizens and their careers and household concerns have not been affected much yet.

Yes, the editorial board types feel the trump terror and destruction, but it hasn't filtered down. 'Average' voters, have some information on their devices of course, but politics is not much of a present concern. Falling stock markets, affecting retirement; falling housing prices also will change things more immediately.

Otherwise, primaries, an election year will help. trump may continue to help.
