Below is a baseline assessment of the states' likely preferences for November 2020, at least as they appear right now. The ratings are based on reporting with political observers in the states and a look at historical and demographic data.
For the Democrats, the analysis below is based on a generic nominee facing off against President Donald Trump.
In that scenario, the Republicans have 205 electoral votes solidly in their camp or leaning their way; the Democrats have 232 electoral votes solidly in their camp or leaning their way.
