(32,729 posts)history where an entire party (half the congress and senate) relied on outright lies & distortions to win elections and retain power? I'm watching the rethugs take turns lying on the House floor and, right now, I don't feel much hope about the future of our nation. How can we move forward when an entire party is purposefully lying and misleading voters?

(129,386 posts)(with a few non-members thrown in like John Lewis). Now they are going through others who probably requested to speak publicly and they try to schedule them as best they can.
All members can submit written remarks "for the record" that would be equivalent to having been "read into the record" (without having to actually verbally read it).

BumRushDaShow
(129,386 posts)and then you have others who like to speak so much that they are often reading remarks into the record in an empty chamber during periods that are called "Special Orders".
In fact - there were some right now who were asking for a unanimous consent to enter their remarks into the record (which would be equivalent to "speaking them" .
