If Trump loses in November the country could be in dire danger.

I'm sure everyone agrees that if Trump wins in 2020 we are really screwed.

But if he loses we are probably screwed too because he will remain president for 2 months and 16 days before the president elect is sworn in. This time is for the transition of one administration to the next but with Trump as president this won't happen.

He's as vindictive as hell, we all know that, and to lose to a Democrat will make him as explosively enraged as he's ever been, particularly after being impeached. He will also be exposed to a myriad of lawsuits and criminal charges once he leaves office which certainly won't improve his mood.

He will use the time he has left to create chaos and make it as difficult as possible for the next president to take charge. His team of eager minions will be working day and night brainstorming ideas as to what he can damage and destroy before leaving. We will may see horrific, dangerous criminals pardoned and sent out into the public to create confusion and trouble for next administration. The basic security of the US could be threatened. The destruction could be major and the Senate will still be under Republican control so won't allow anything to stop him.

This is something that I hope some Democratic politicians are thinking about. What can be done to stanch or prevent the horrible gaping wound that Trump will attempt to create in our government if he is voted out of office?

Pardoning murderers and child molesters just to punish the populace? Trump would do that.

Those pardoned and file new or other state charges against them ? Might work in some instances.

he's been doing that all along as "we've" angered him, Republicans betrayed him by leaving the party, failing to give him approval ratings like NK's Kim, etc.; and of course hurting people just to enjoy exercising his power.

Interesting thought about that period. Endangering and betraying national security for sure -- besides vengeful, he'll still be on Putin's hook, but there again without the protection of the presidency the threat of grave repercussions may cause him to back off. Our 17 intelligence chiefs have been seriously handicapped, but they're not exactly out.

Perhaps a deal or deals not to prosecute something will be made in return for behaving somewhat? Just throwing that out there. I'm not at all sure the Republican senate wouldn't try to contain some of his actions if he was on his way out.

However, the Republican leaders and those backing their actions are very ruthless and will be plotting to turn any electoral outcomes, positive and negative, to further growth of their power, and it is possible they'd feel growing fear from civil unrest would serve them. Could McConnell fail to be reelected? He's been China's main man in DC for decades and could very conceivably have both Russia and China working to keep him attacking democracy and Democrats from within. Putin has to stop Democrats getting power and stop us from using any we get.

Speaking of, Freedom Caucus extremist Mark Meadows isn't running for reelection and reportedly may resign halfway through 2020 to work with/for Trump outside congress. Whatever he's planning, it doesn't even allow me to be glad he'll be gone. Because he won't be.

Wish our leaders could tell us what they know that helps them sleep at night.

The human side of Trump no doubt is experiencing the psychic and emotional pain of an insecure narcistic that cascades over a cliff.

One would think Trump is bigly exposed to assassination by covert institution or lone nut or something in between that even the history books will never reveal the specific.

Bet there are conversations in rooms now that discuss this option.

Trump could also experience a medical catastrophe from his existing condition add the pressure and stress from his failure.

Its not in me to embrace hope for these outcomes that would simplify transition and hopefully recovery of the nation and it people.

Best is that Trump resigns under advisement from senior GOP ala Nixon. Conviction in the Senate works too, however unlikely.

But Trump is partially a symptom. Barr, McConnell, I would add members of USSC that annulled Gore's win over GWB in 2000, need to be impeached or similar to remove them from their public service. These vile type folks are embedded everywhere now.

The human infrastructure of government needs repair that will probably take decades.

There are millions of people that need personal cure from Trumpism or whatever rises to replace Trump.

Worrisome. Democratic Party politics need to be firm but love and empathy need to be part of the equation.

8. The president-elect would have to be very public in an unprecedented way

To reassure our allies that whatever Trump does in his 2+ months before the transition will be undone immediately. And I don't think people will follow his orders if they are destructive.

He will probably be too busy trying to make deals to keep himself and his kids out of prison and keep everyone from going broke.

And who knows, maybe he cuts a deal here in the next couple of weeks to resign and receive a full pardon. I think he would have a lot of influence on 2020. Hell, maybe junior would run. Wouldn't that be fun to watch?

I'd welcome that kind of problem. It's more likely he'll quit if he can bribe Pence into giving him a pre-emptive blanket pardon for anything he ever did or might do. Trump just cares for Trump.
