Spending the past 40 years here, I’ve seen such a total disrespect for fans and veteran stars.

Were it for me. Was never a big fan anyway. But honestly the Chargers have sucked majority for decades. Don't come with your hand out and say the team will be a winning team if we get a new stadium. Field a winning team that deserves a new stadium. When they were threatening to move I was saying "let me know when you are loading the truck, I'll come help"

They would work a deal with the Chargers to move back to SD. Building a stadium at their own damn costs of course.

Then they use a similar concept of games being played in London/Mexico City. Play about a half dozen a year. So you rotate teams like Detroit, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Buffalo, etc. Teams with more population of ex residents in SoCal, cold weather cities.

Result:

1. Warm weather game for fans
2. SoCal fan base of your team has opportunity to attend 'Home' game almost every year.
3. NFL could actually work a deal with San Diego to get some cost concessions if they actually worked together with the city.
4. NFL could have a stadium that could be used every for or five years for the Super Bowl.

unless the city built the Chargers a new stadium.

Every year since it was always a drama with the Chargers threatening to move after their contract obligations were up; the city didn't want them to move, and actually guaranteed a certain attendance level and had to pay for any empty seats to make up for the lack of attendance.

But building a new stadium with taxpayer money and giving the bulk of the revenues to the Chargers was a stadium too far.

Crowd noise is in favor of the Raiders.

Poor Cleveland lost their Browns to Baltimore. The team became the Ravens in Baltimore, and that was why Cleveland was able to attract another team to become the "new" Browns, but it has never been the same.

Every smaller city (other than Green Bay, Wisconsin) faces the same dilemma. Once the ticket money and the TV ad money stop growing, the owner is (or could be) looking for ways to sell and move the team. The Green Bay Packers team is different because the team owners ARE the citizens of Green Bay. Maybe this is the solution for ALL smaller cities - find a way to purchase your NFL team and distribute small shares of ownership among the citizens and fans. This ensures the team will never leave the area, as long as the NFL is relevant.

If Cleveland had done that they never would have lost their original Browns team. Probably true for San Diego too. The NFL has to find a way to make this happen for their smaller cities' teams. Otherwise the whole thing falls apart.
