Why is Ms Khan running for that district and not another one? I know many people would like to get rid of AOC as she has been an asset for Democrats during inquiries, she has not allowed republicans to bully her and she does represent the people of NY and her district. The fact that Ms Khan was "talking to people on her district while AOC was somewhere else" sounds like a very petty argument, AOC is a Congresswoman, her responsibilities do take her other places besides her district.
I don't know anything about Ms. Khan, but there is something tasteless about her intentions, why would you want to try to unsit a very good Democratic Congresswoman? What is the benefit for the Democratic party to unsit AOC? I know republicans would be thrilled, but I don't know about Democrats.

(67,782 posts)For one thing, she actually LIVES in her District! If you don't think she has a right to run in that district for the reasons you give, were you upset when Ocasio-Cortez ran in the same district last year?
As for the responsibilities of a Member of Congress, do they include spending more time outside his/her district than in it, traveling around the country campaigning for another candidate?
And as for the list of bills you linked to, of the 10 listed only ONE has a prognosis of passing as high as 14%, the rest are 6% or lower. You might want to look at the record of another freshman, Lauren Underwood. She's introduced 16 bills - one has a prognosis of 81%, another 26%. THAT is an impressive record.
What do you find "tasteless" about Khan's intentions? That's a mighty derogatory comment to make about a Democrat.

(3,477 posts)Problem with the population of the district having the ability to choose who they want to represent them? Is AOC indispensable? Should no one have the right to challenge her?

(2,120 posts)....settle in one spot in America to be near their own. They both feel supported and support they fellow refugees, either their fellow countrymen or just other newcomers. Then they put forward a candidate from their community and look to have a voice, not just in local government, but in Washington. I wish her great success.

(146,317 posts)Democrat in that district. What chutzpah. Who would try to unseat the incumbent Democrat in a House district, after all?
Oh...wait...uh...never mind...
