Future generations will look back on Trump's latest wind turbines rant in awe and horror

Trump’s incoherent Turning Point rant about wind energy and “fumes,” decoded.

By Aaron Rupar @atrupar

Dec 23, 2019, 12:20pm EST

President Donald Trump has pushed a dizzying amount of misinformation about wind energy in 2019 — including, perhaps most memorably, his claim about wind turbines causing cancer — but if you’re looking for an encapsulation, you won’t find a better example than the speech he delivered on Saturday night to the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in West Palm Beach, Florida.

During a rant about how bad the Green New Deal would purportedly be for the country, Trump made a series of false and bizarre claims about wind, including, among others, that the manufacturing of turbines creates “fumes” that “are spewing into the air;” making it sound as though wind turbines are pushing California’s bald eagle population to the brink of extinction; and, in an especially galaxy-brained moment, riffing that “you know we have a world, right? So the world is tiny compared to the universe.”

Trump began his comments about wind energy on an incoherent note, saying, “I never understood wind. You know, I know windmills very much.”

Things didn’t get much better from there. He continued:

But they’re manufactured tremendous — if you’re into this — tremendous fumes. Gases are spewing into the atmosphere. You know we have a world, right? So the world is tiny compared to the universe. So tremendous, tremendous amount of fumes and everything. You talk about the carbon footprint — fumes are spewing into the air. Right? Spewing. Whether it’s in China, Germany, it’s going into the air. It’s our air, their air, everything — right?

Any sentient being knows by now he's insane and getting worse.

We're in sad shape as a nation that the 2016 election went unquestioned and that our system is ill-equiped to get rid of an unfit, rogue president propped up by a rogue Senate majority leader of a rogue party.

If we rid ourselves of trump with Dems in power amendments to the Constitution are needed so this doesn't happen again.

Knowing how this idiot operates, this could very well be payback to the wind for causing him embarrassment by mussing his quaff. He is that petty and that stupid.

This is the remarkably scary thing about this con artist...the millions who actually understand his rantings and follow his twisted and dark logic. Scary I tell you. Been saying it since my first travels abroad when I was only 18...."America is a nation of morons". Not saying everyone...not even the majority; but look, 63 million voted for this piece of shit con artists, and 40% of the voting population STILL support him after all he has said and done in these past four years. Enough said.....

Trump is not only saving the environment and stopping cancer by being against windmills, he's protecting our National Symbol.

How can anyone disagree with that?

Yes, it creates Carbon Emissions to manufacture a wind turbine. A lot. But THEN, it creates carbon-free electricity.

It creates Carbon Emissions when you manufacture anything. Everything has a Carbon Cost - concrete, for example, is terrible. Trying to REDUCE the Carbon Cost is a good thing.

But being accurate isn't the point of a Trump Gish Gallop. Turning Lib's faces red with exasperation is the point.
