A Kansas police officer resigned Monday after fabricating a story that employees at a local McDonalds wrote the words F---ing Pig on his coffee cup.
Herington Police Chief Brian Hornaday said on Saturday that one of his officers went to McDonalds in Junction City, Kansas, before work and was given the cup in question, NBC affiliate KSNT reports. After further investigation, the department discovered the unidentified Herington officer made the story up.
"This was completely and solely fabricated by a Herington police officer no longer employed with the agency," Hornaday told reporters Monday.
The chief said that the McDonald's employees had nothing to do with the hoax and were incredibly cooperative during the investigation.
The ex-officer, who remained unidentified, was a former military police officer in the army and had been on the small towns force for two months. He told Hornaday the incident was supposedly intended to be a joke.
"I truly hope the former officer of the Herington Police Department that did this understands the magnitude of the black eye this gives the law enforcement profession from coast to coast," Hornaday said.

(3,333 posts)As there was no violence during this incident, why would the police chief apologize for police violence while addressing this incident?
However, the police chief should have apologized for his own previous statements supporting his fired officer's false allegations.

No, Chief Hornaday. A black eye for Junction City is a police chief who runs his mouth before he knows the facts. A police chief who publicly insults the whole town to defend a lying piece of shit. You gave Junction City a black eye, Chief Hornaday.

(14,861 posts)learn from Chief Hornaday's embarrassing experience. He jumped up to publicly defend this lying piece of shit officer, and he disparaged the people at the McDonald's and the whole fucking town, before any investigation took place. Now he looks like a fool.
Here's what Chief Hornaday had to say about this, before he learned what really happened:
This is what he paid for. Although I understand this is likely the act of one person and not a representation of the company, when it was brought to their attention the company offered him a free lunch. No thank you. A Big Mac and large fries doesnt make up for it. The US Veteran who continues to serve deserves much more. This is not only bad for McDonald's, but is also a black eye for Junction City.

(5,849 posts)At least where I live, McDonalds doesnt even write names on the cups, they just hand it to the customer as soon as payment is tendered. What an idiot.
