Same as Iran’s Khuzestan province, just across the river from southern Iraq.

Iran’s Persian majority is utterly petrified that these two regions will eventually unite into an Arab Shi’a superstate. Khuzestan province has about 90 pct of Iran’s oil.

GB and France liked straight lines when they divided up the middle east from the remains of the Ottoman Empire.
