I don't have any specific data. But my guess would be that it's the southern conservative states where most of his support base comes from.

It has historically been that it's these same folks that choose to go into the military in larger numbers than the northern tier of states.

It was that way in the 1960s when I served. A lot of southern boys. A lot of poor southern boys. Looking for a way out. At the time it was a rarity to see proportionally number southern girls in the military.

So my guess would be that these same young folks (military age) are going to suffer a higher loss on the battlefield.

Again I have no data just many years of observation of who makes up a volunteer army.

If traveling overseas you might want to leave your MAGA hats home. A target on your head is just as bad as one on your back.

4. it's not just magat's... lots of americans are afraid of, hate the thought of, socialism

America has been fed from the teat of capitalism for so long that fear and dislike for the word are ingrained. You can make all the logical arguments you like, but people still fear and hate.

The issue isn't trumps drooling base. It's the spreading middle that people at both extremes won't acknowledge exist.

Despite what certain candidates preach, if you lead with that word you are going to get beaten over and over.

Fear is real. Hate is real. I'm glad people are fighting it. It will be a long road to acceptance. But 2020 isn't when it will happen. The gop are masters of fanning the fears and exploiting the hate. It's hard to put out a fire people keep feeding.

But if you think the fight is only with magat's, you've already lost.

I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

In response to the encroaching oligarchy, it is simply not enough to be that "white moderate" again. As prices of goods and essential medicines continue to go up, we have a segment of this country willing to go down into whatever abyss is being created for the lower classes to "own the libs" or because they are told any reform at all is "socialism", I'm not going down with them, I'm not going to wait for them to be comfortable, I am not going to care about their feelings. None of us should be catering to the whims of that segment of the population.

life is too short for that shit. That may seem selfish on my part, but I can find no common ground with these people. Some would actually chuck democracy if that's what their "dear leader" tells them to do. It's bizarre.

10. "Socialism" is a slur against advocates of fundamental fairness

When the right bashes social programs (as part of a mixed economy) as "socialism", they're trying to justify the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few, even to the point of abandoning democracy in favor of neo-fascism.

The far right doesn't like to have to share with people they consider to be their inferiors.

Corporate socialism. Handouts to the largest companies. The wealthy in the form of irresponsible tax breaks. Pharma, Insurance, Financials. Telecoms can now share your personal information to whoever wants to pay for it. What did the great deal maker get in exchange for this. Nada. We need to turn the socialist argument around and put the onus on the right. No candidate is doing this. At least not near enough. The socialism argument is what will lose the next election. Campaign on giving people their privacy back!
