Talked about being on the brink of war...Australia on fire..did not mention the beast by name...but it was unmistakable.

"Vote and beg everyone that you know to vote to give our kids a better world."

Update: Add Michelle Williams' strong statement on Choice.

Ordinary people resent being lectured by vacuous people who read lines for a living. DU seems to hang on their every word, but I rarely hear anyone take note of them IRL except in a negative fashion. Trump considers it a plus that Hollywood hates him, because the people he wants to appeal to hate Hollywood.

But every celebrity out there has tons of fans who listen. All it takes is a few who sat out the last election to weigh in this time, and we will change history.

Celebrities have opinions too, and they are just as valid as mine, or yours. I believe MOST of them are on our side, "which is a good thing" (love me some Martha!).

aren't going to vote for Democrats anyway! The people who they're addressing are those who don't vote and in some cases think both parties are the same. I think it does a lot of good and I appreciate those who speak out. Also, I know some people don't realize it, BUT BEING A SUCCESSFUL ACTOR/ACTRESS INVOLVES A LOT MORE THAN "reading lines" - You don't know what you're talking about.

Mon Jan 6, 2020, 04:13 PM
Jan 2020

Yea, he Sogo, hates people using platforms to speak. Ya know what, I personally hate when athletes, and award winners use the platform to thank GOD for the win. There are much more important issue down here than helping an athlete win a game. Not sure how much of a sports fan he is. He should not have enough time to be watching football, and making his favorite win or set a record. Why does he make others loose? In my generation, a very loud voice of musicians stopped a war and the draft. So, there's that. Every raised voice to counter lies. Fox sure screeches enough, and claim to be entertainment, not news. Is that using a platform?

One of the thing that most enrages me about his crap is that he effectively stalled or ended the careers of actresses I really like, Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino being the two that come to mind. I don't know if that's the case with Renee Zellwegger, but there are a lot of women of about that age who seem to have been "disappeared" about that time.

To be clear, everything about Harvey Weinstein's antics disgusts me, but the blackballing just adds one more layer. I've only seen Zellwegger in a few movies, but I really liked her performances.

as long as they think it's against liberals. (It's not)

It's all an act and conservatives are too stupid to realize they got trolled. Ricky Gervais has endorsed lefty politicians in the UK and has long supported animal welfare charities and gay rights and is an atheist and humanist.

Right at the beginning he said he wanted to roast as many people as possible and it's all a joke. Conservatives missed that because their reptile brains got excited by hearing what they want to hear and ignoring the rest. He did call out a lot of hypocrisy on racism, sexual abuse, human rights abuses overseas, etc. Conservatives love those things.

Are human beings who come from a variety of backgrounds. They have life experiences just as do the rest of us. Some of them use their experiences to inform their work. Some of them use their experiences to make political statements and raise social consciousness.

George Takei knows what it is like to be unlawfully imprisoned for being a member of a minority group. He speaks out. Different actresses know what it is like to have their careers threatened for refusing sexual advances. They are speaking out.

Speaking out helps
