Your concern is wholly valid and it is good that you brought up this point.

In this specific case, I don't think that there is any rancor or disgust being leveled at the idea of anyone being gay. The pertinent theme is that Trump is providing "services" of a sort to Putin, who is cast in the dominant role.

More than anything else, I think that the writer of the remark was enjoying the wordplay associated with the dual meanings of the word, "head".

Please do not take this to mean that I am dismissive of your essential point. To be called "gay" as a pejorative does suggest that there is something essentially wrong with being gay. Calling a man a "woman" suggests that there is something fundamentally lesser or undesirable about being a woman, and I certainly find that objectionable.

Insults centered on issues regarding gender, sexuality and sexual behaviors are often problematic. Look at the numerous uses of the term, "fuck Trump" right here at DU. As George Carlin pointed out, fucking is supposed to be a fun activity, so why would we wish to engage in the exchange of pleasure with those we despise?

What people are really saying with that term is "rape Trump". One is insulting him by suggesting that one wishes that he be violently penetrated against his will. The overwhelmingly majority of people who use that expression are not rapists. They simply aren't examining the expression that closely. So it is with the suggestion that Trump and Putin are in a sexual relationship in which one provides "services" to the other. The notion of sexual orientation is not the central aspect of the insult.

It makes absolutely no difference whether using sexual orientation is the central aspect of a the insult or just a fun bonus. It still uses a group of people (to which I belong) as a battering ram, and when you use me to bludgeon trump, you inherently beat me up too.

There are plenty of ways of suggesting trump is subservient to put in without implying they are in a sexual relationship.

As a gay man I’m sick of seeing it here. It’s harmful and has no place here.
