'Aliens exist and could be here on Earth'

Aliens exist and it is possible they are among us on Earth, the first Briton to go into space has said. Dr Helen Sharman told the Observer Magazine that extra-terrestrial life is bound to be somewhere in the universe.

"Aliens exist, there's no two ways about it," she said, adding that "there must be all sorts of different forms of life" among the billions of stars.

Dr Sharman, 56, made history when she travelled to the Soviet space station Mir in May 1991.

The chemist, who now works at Imperial College, London, added that although aliens may not be made up of carbon and nitrogen like humans "it's possible they're here right now and we simply can't see them".

But don’t we always refer to extraterrestrial life as other “intelligent” life forms?

The purpose of "no difference between the two" is to demotivate.

It is very popular with extremist and fringe idealogues.

Not much of a Tim Allen fan, but I gave him a nod in this one. Alan Rickman was funny as hell and superb as was the rest of the cast.

It seems like a certainty that there is intelligent life elsewhere in the universe.

That said, it would still be unlikely that such life forms have discovered earth, given that we have only been "active in radio spectrum" for the last 110 years or so... meaning that an alien speices would have to have a listening post within 110 light years of earth to even think that this rock would be worth visiting.

there are two cats who abide in the same dwelling place where I live. They seem to have the power to transport themselves instantly from place to place. For example, if I go into the kitchen to get a cup of coffee, when I turn around there is one of the cats, looking up at me, expectantly. Unless I give the alien creature a piece of food, it stays there. Once i provide food, it disappears, as if by teleportation.

The other cat mysteriously appears on my bed within seconds of my lying down on it. It was nowhere to be seen when I went into the bedroom, but suddenly is beside me, demanding that I stroke it in a particular way for a few minutes. Then, it disappears once again.

Aliens? You decide.

We could be an exotic pet nature preserve, with paying customers coming from far and wide to visit the hairless apes.

Or they created us and don't want to contaminate their little experiment by revealing their presence

I, for one, welcome our new overlords
