Ava DuVernay: When They See Us director 'thanks' Golden Globes for snubbing Netflix show

Ava DuVernay has “thanked” the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for failing to nominate When They See Us at the Golden Globes. The director, whose Netflix show about the Central Park Five was one of this year’s biggest snubs, threw shade at voters on Twitter ahead of the ceremony. “The upside of not being nominated for a Golden Globe for When They See Us: I don’t have to juggle getting into hair, makeup and gown while researching, reading and worrying about impeding war,” she wrote. DuVernay added: “Also: easier to block trolls without newly manicured nails. Thanks, Hollywood Foreign Press Association. This is a win win!”
