that some of the religious right want the ultimate destruction to occur - Armageddon, when they will be saved. They want to be proven right.
People who believe this are everywhere, including elected positions in all levels of government. Working on an environmental issue, I was told by one of the council members that there were other council members who held those beliefs and WANTED the destruction that hazardous pollution would cause.

These are people cloaked in the cover of religion but are actually very sick people. They have power.

I knew he was nuts and could care less about the environment but not the rapture part. They are everywhere - a suicide cult.

Never mind that there's no biblical basis for the rapture. It was not part of Christian theology till John Nelson Darby invented it in the 19th century.
