Trump faces Iran crisis with fewer experienced advisers and strained relations with allies

Presidents on the brink of war tend to rely on an array of Oval Office assets: teams of experienced advisers, trusted sources of intelligence, strong ties with U.S. allies and credibility with the broad American public.

For President Trump those assets may be in short supply as he faces the prospect of an escalating conflict with Iran.

Trump’s decision to approve an airstrike that killed Qasem Soleimani, the leader of Iran’s paramilitary Quds Force, came at a moment in his presidency when his national security team has been depleted by waves of departures and distracted by months of impeachment hearings before Congress.

But even before the Ukraine crisis, Trump had spent much of his first three years in office attacking critical capabilities ordinarily cultivated by commanders in chief: He has disparaged U.S. intelligence agencies, disrupted relationships with European partners and diluted the power of the bully pulpit with thousands of falsehoods.

But he's a stable genius.

we all know that, his bully tactics are going to get a lot of people killed for nothing if he is not stopped.

To whatever power out there, please label him a war criminal and haul his ass away, for all of humanity. Please.

He has all the belligerence without any of the skill or experience in previous GOP admins. He flying (in a) blind (rage) hoping to juice his reelection campaign and trying to push impeachment off the front page.

With an average of more than 10 personal lies per day, there is no credible belief in anything coming out of the Executive Branch.

Israel involved in t-rump and Iran's fight . . . .

Iraq want the USA out, and Russia claims to be stunned . . .

And yet, Pompeo came on tv and of course . . . blamed Pres O.

The chosen one is a unqualified fuck up along with unqualified cronies. Unfortunately, they are in power and the Republicans don't care.

surprised by rump's unilateral actions and Pompeo blaming Obama, as usual, not surprised. The republicans never take responsibility for anything. Never.

These scumbags are literally lurching from crisis to crisis and will get us into a war that they can't back out of before long. Everyone of them should be charged w/ a war crime. For every American soldier killed as a result of their incompetence (the republicans and rump's incompetence), they should be charged w/ aiding and abetting the enemy, let alone other crimes against humanity. There were other ways to address any crimes of the part of Iranian taskmasters, and now rump has destroyed any chances of getting restitution in the Hague or the UN.
