was decorated by an Iranian undercover agent who was tasked with creating the tackiest fin-de Siecle whorehouse decor imaginable specifically in order to subject him to the scorn and derision of the city's elite, whom he was desperate to impress but who had always rejected him as a ludicrous nouveau-riche poseur.
