Breaking NOT news: Collins and Murkowski will vote with McTurtle on witnesses

Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski have said they will vote for going ahead with the impeachment trial without the Senate calling witnesses, thus freeing Bolton from his statement that he will testify if subpoenaed by the Senate.

It wouldn’t surprise me at this point to hear that the statements of Bolton, Collins and Murkowski were all coordinated as to timing and content.

whatever it takes to do it.

They all like their jobs way too much for our wellbeing. We need to remove some of the things that make them way too happy and add some that make them afraid to cross us. Like making going to prison far less rare and travel more rare. Keep them at their desks. And I'm in the mood to add outlawing upholstery in their offices and chambers to that list.

Imagine— a major political party whose leaders have to fear the plethora of nutcases in their base. If you’re a Republican who’s not foursquare for Trump, you’re in for special treatment from the new Brownshirts.

I have a feeling this is why so many not-fully-on-board-with-45 Republicans (like Corker, Flake, etc.) have retired. Apparently they’re not too keen on getting death threats in the middle of the night.

Authoritarian regimes have no room for dissent, even on a micro-level. It’s either absolute fealty, or Trump calls you out by name at his next red-meat rally. And after that...no guarantees.

I guess they used their 15 minutes of attention on this issue, time to move on to supporting Trump. The female “voices of reason” trotted out by the GOP have performed their role in the tragedy.

Collins is going to get a lot of RW money supporting her, but if people like Lindsey Graham, Cindy-Hyde Smith and Mitch McConnell have their own tough races, then the RW moneybags might not have as much money to spend in Maine.

Our house managers would be reduced to repeating what we all already know. The Republican Senators will yawn (probably flagrantly and on camera), vote the articles down, McTurtle will hold a Q&A session in front of the TV cameras about the Democrats wasting the Senate's time and Trump will tweet his gloating from now until November.

....which is why Pelosi is in no hurry to let them.

Moscow could pass a vote that would limit the house to only reading the articles as written. Then they would spend days arguing conspiracy theory, or what gym rat and the cow decide to spew forth.

Oh, and they will likely subpoena the bidens. "We called witnesses".

If anybody thought that they could rely on Murkowski or Collins, or Bolton for that matter, I want some of what you’re smoking.

We watch the talk shows and hear the encouraging babble about these three and actually think that there’s a chance that they will develop common sense overnight. Rubbish! They’re Republicans.
