(46,745 posts)But their culture is steep on respecting and protecting the elderly. So the end result is the same as in Latin American countries that still practice the old Christian tenets of helping those in need.
Don't make any mistake that this respect for the elderly is anything like the autocratic expectation from White Americans who expect everyone to obey the old guys. The main difference, the elderly from other cultures do not use their latter years ridiculing people and taking advantage of their positions, if they have them.

The speaking style sounds Chinese, but I wouldn't recognize Korean or SE Asian. Where's Yuiyoshida when we need her?
