for andrew johnson, bill clinton, and even counting nixon, both houses of congress were controlled by the opposition party.

donnie's senate trial will be the first time the same party as the president has been a part of a presidential impeachment process.

and it's clear mcturtle is opting for a vastly more partisan approach, even when he already knows the final vote is safe.

republicans have a very good track record of keeping their people in line, whether through carrot or stick.

far more likely is that they get a few democrats to side with them, and then they will blow that out of proportion and claim "bipartisan support" for "exonerating" donnie, when in fact we all know he's guilty as hell and horribly unfit for the job.

We will see but I am hopeful many cross the line to give trump a message to tamp things down a bit and reclaim their co equal distinction.

The special prosecutor law was allowed to lapse, primarily because of Starr's abuses.

Since then, investigations have operated under different legal mechanisms.

Besides, the overarching problem now is the same one as back then: the overlapping network of conservative propaganda outlets always hungry for poo to throw at their enemies (which are Democrats and any Republican who slacks off on the crazy).

They'll support Trump to the very end.
