Please please please please call Bolton. Then Trump is screwed.

My gut feeling so far has been saying Mitch McConnell will not allow Witnesses. But it's really in the end not up to him and all it takes is 4 republicans to grow a conscience.

Right now I'm thinking there's two and maybe one more but not 4.

But if by some miracle it happens and Bolton is subpoenaed think of how screwed Trump is going to be.

His options will be to fight The subpoena and let the trial sit in the senate for months in limbo with no outcome and no acquittal vote waiting on the Supreme Court to make a decision, or he will have to give up and let Bolton testify.

God only knows what that guy is going to end up saying.

Even then if something bad comes out it might not be enough to remove Trump but it will make voting to leave him in office look even worse for the GOP.

I am hoping and praying the votes are there and Bolton gets subpoenaed I can't wait.

1. Don't be so sure Bolton's contempt for Trump outweighs his lifetime disdain for "Liberals"

One can hope the former would propel honesty, but he might just decide to say nothing.

Bolton. Imagine how insane that sentence would have been, even a month ago. 2020 already is...

The timing, with Bolton coming forward right after the assassination, makes me wonder. Was he trying to manipulate Trump into starting a war?

But would he really contradict all those highly respected career diplomats who worked under him? Also, if he does come through and do the right thing, it might help him sell books (even I might buy it)

I don't know what to make of it.

Ever since he got his Twitter account back, before the hearings even began he has been saying he would testify, I think he knows Trump will move heaven and earth to stop that from happening. Just some observations, I don't really know what to make of it either.

I trust Bolton as far as I can throw him, and perhaps this Iran sabre-rattling is giving the people that grease Bolton's palms what they want.

6. Remember, Bolton will be under oath and will be subject to perjury charges if he lies.

He will NOT be on the witness stand to pontificate. He will be told to produce evidence. His testimony will be subject to examination and cross-examination. Being an attorney makes no difference. He gets no special privileges.

The other witnesses should include Don McGahn. McGahn has a treasure trove of inculpatory evidence that will explode in Trumpy's face.

witnesses (i.e. Bolton) to testify at the impeachment trial, only to have Bolton pull a Frank Pentangeli. His disdain and contempt for Liberals outweighs any momentary irritation with Dear Leader.

11. You must know...
Tue Jan 14, 2020, 04:14 PM

that Bolton will be interviewed by the prosecution BEFORE he testifies. The prosecutors will already know what Bolton will say before he testifies. Prosecutors will never ask a question in Court without already knowing the answer. Bolton has already indicated that he will testify for the prosecution. We will hear his reason for resigning as NSA, and Trump won't like it one bit.

Bolton might or might not "hate liberals." But he surely knows that Trump is NOT a conservative. He knows that Trump is a sociopathic criminal. And that, IMO, is what irks Bolton.

That doesn't mean that he won't give the House Managers a whole lot of 'feel-good' when they interview him only to see him weasel out of anything of value when on Direct examination at trial, much less under cross examination by Dumpy's team. I wouldn't trust have as far as I could throw him. Don't forget he's got a book to sell and anything that comes out during the course of the impeachment is going to directly affect the number of copies he sells. I can see the title now: "What i couldn't publicly say during the Impeachment" by John Bolton.

But what this could do is drag out the trial in the senate for months and months and months and Trump has to fight McConnell and just the thought of that makes me happy.

Instead of the orderly two-week trial where McConnell slam dunks the Articles down the toilet and everybody moves on for Christmas, we could have this potential shitshow going on for months

8. One more thing to consider about the house
Tue Jan 14, 2020, 04:09 PM
Jan 2020

Right now the house could be the ones fighting to get Bolton and Trump would not be impeached.

Instead he is impeached, it's the Senate that might be fighting for the witnesses and Trump is going to have to fight McConnell instead of Pelosi to keep them away.

Meanwhile during this whole fight in the Senate he will still be impeached and will not have gotten his acquittal vote.

If that's how it turns out being it's a brilliant move by the house

13. Trump is already impeached. You are referring to "removal from office."
Tue Jan 14, 2020, 04:19 PM

In addition to the ongoing trial, the House may write up more articles of impeachment, and may, indeed, subpoena Bolton to testify before the House. The House must continue with its oversight duties. Trump is such a trashy mountain of criminality, the House could write and vote on article after article and never stop.

It's more likely that Bolton defends Trump and claims it's all Giuliani and Sondland's fault. Or he'll say he doesn't think Trump did anything wrong.

I think Bolton is a terrible witness.
