Nancy Pelosi: What Kind of Sick S--t Do the Russians Have on Mitch McConnell?

Nancy Pelosi: What Kind of Sick S--t Do the Russians Have on Mitch McConnell?
The House Speaker can think of no other way to explain the senator’s behavior.
By Bess Levin
January 14, 2020

On Tuesday, nearly a month after the House of Representatives officially voted to impeach Donald Trump, Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House would vote Wednesday to send its impeachment charges to the Senate, kicking off a process that will likely result in a trial starting next week. “The American people deserve the truth, and the Constitution demands a trial,” Pelosi said in a statement. “The House will now proceed with a vote on transmitting the articles of impeachment and naming impeachment managers on Wednesday, January 15.” Referencing the fact that Senate Republicans like Mitch McConnell have refused to hear new, relevant information concerning the president’s attempt to extort Ukraine for his personal benefit, Pelosi noted that “the American people will fully understand the Senate’s move to begin the trial without witnesses and documents as a pure political cover-up. Leader McConnell and the president are afraid of more facts coming to light.” And that represented the high point of her comments about the senator from Kentucky.

Speaking at a closed-door meeting of her caucus about the Russian hack into Burisma, i.e., the Ukrainian energy company whose dealings with Hunter Biden and Joe Biden Trump tried to get President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate, Pelosi reportedly tore McConnell a proverbial new one, charging that he’s acting like a rogue leader, an accusation she also made last month that is, of course, entirely accurate. Sources told CNN that Pelosi then “mused that sometimes she wonders whether McConnell has Russian connections.”

McConnell does not appear to have responded to Pelosi’s comments, though based on his previous reaction to similar allegations, he’s likely already thrown several hissy fits in his Senate office. Last July, when the Washington Post ran an op-ed saying that McConnell “is, arguably more than any other American, doing Russian president Vladimir Putin’s bidding,” after he blocked numerous bills intended to prevent election meddling—including one that would have required presidential campaigns to report any offers of assistance from agents of foreign governments—McConnell had a massive conniption on the Senate floor. “I was called unpatriotic, un-American, and, essentially, treasonous by a couple of left-wing pundits on the basis of boldfaced lies,” he whined. “I was accused of ‘aiding and abetting’ the very man I’ve singled out as our adversary and opposed for nearly 20 years: Vladimir Putin.” He went on to describe the op-ed and other attacks as “modern-day McCarthyism,” claiming “these pundits are lying when they dismiss the work that has been done,” and failing to mention all the bills he kneecapped that would protect U.S. elections, perhaps because such interference would benefit Republicans like himself and the president.

So yeah, an angry tantrum is probably around the corner.

Discovered their crimes with elections , and has given him and their party bribes to do as they want , especially to not convict trump, and at some point lift their sanctions for helping them get re-elected by hackings, and using propaganda, which republicans are helping them spread for Putin. They also may have Moscow Mitch's wife caught taking bribes too.

Wed Jan 15, 2020, 11:24 AM
Jan 2020

The hacking operation on the Democratic side was revealed to the public to influence the election in Donald Trump's favor, and the hacking of the Republicans, especially GOP leaders like Moscow Mitch, was done behind the scenes for the purposes of Kompromat and blackmail. And, in Moscow Mitch's case, I believe it began very early. How ealse do you explain his holding off on Merrick Garland ( he knew that the Russians would interfere on their behalf in 2016) as well as his refusal to sign a bipartisan declaration condemning Russian interference during the 2016 election?

Just on a sheer quantitative scale, I believe that Donald Trump has done more for Russia than Moscow Mitch - but Moscow Mitch sure comes in a close second.

Remember the RNC was being run by former WI Republicans like Reince Priebus. I never bought the "he ran out of campaign money" B.S. , not when you had Charles and David Koch as your sugardaddies.

Paul Ryan likely knew as well, and I think that after he got his tax cuts, he quit so that if it ever got out there would be some distance.

I DO wonder what Rupert Murdoch is getting out of the arrangement.

Since most of his money was obtained through nefarious means, naturally he can't reveal it. If you imagine his ability to murder people outside Russia, further imagine how he can murder people inside Russia and just the threat of such violence.

Sell me your business at 50% of what it's worth or Grandma gets mailed to you a piece at a time. Everyone else is going to be giving him protection money.

Vladimir Putin Is Reportedly Richer Than Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos Combined

Bezos is the official richest man alive. But the actual richest man alive is Putin. I'm just sad for the Russian people. Think of how much progress could have been done in Russia since Glasnost if that money, including all the money his oligarch peers in his inner circle also have stolen, were put to social spending, infrastructure etc.

Make Little Donny and MoscowMitch fume thru TWO trials. Force the second trial to coincide with RNC convention, or maybe just before.

She shouldn't have to do this on her own. C'mon Democrats get the hell out in front of the press and raise hell. Ask about whether our ambassador was about to be assassinated. A squeaky wheel gets the grease. Keep pounding this new dump of emails. We can't allow the criminal Republicans to control the narrative.

for journalists and historians who have some time on their hands.

Review every major (and probably some less major) decisions that the buffoon has made since January 2017.

Step one. Brief review of the issue.

Step two. The most appropriate US decision/action on this issue. One that rational minds would argue benefits the US in terms of domestic and foreign policy, national security, and the like.

Step three. What would be, let's say, a compromise position due to budgetary issues or anything else. A reasonable compromise for appropriate reasons.

Step four. If a Russian were the president of the United States, what would that Russian want the US to decide/take action on, etc., and why.

Step five. What did this regime do, and why? If the same action were taken by, let's say, George Bush, what would the reaction be? Putting aside Trump's insanity, could it be argued and justified as beneficial to the US?

We all - justifiably in my view - accuse Trump of being a Russian asset and of making decisions in Russia's best interest, not ours. I believe that to be 110% true. But a critical analysis would be welcome.

Of course, this could be the subject to an ongoing series or a book, and we all know that historians are going to spend decades on this era, but something concise and readable and not hysterical might be useful.
