Senator Harris calls for judicial nominations to stop during impeachment

NEW: @SenKamalaHarris is calling for judicial nominations to stop during Senate consideration of impeachment.

"During the time when articles of impeachment are before the Senate, it would be wholly inappropriate to advance the president’s nominees to the federal judiciary.”

She did try to get him kicked off of Twitter at the October or November debate.

Why would Mitch do that? There is absolutely nothing in it for him or the Republicans in the Senate or Trump himself.

The articles were delivered December 19, the trial started on January 7 and the verdict was rendered on February 9. The Senate would have been in recess for most of the time between the delivery of the articles and the commencement of the trial.

I highly doubt McConnell would concede that there was any agreement not to consider nominees while the impeachment trial was underway and I doubt that anyone could point to any evidence of such an agreement. Moreover, it is far from clear that the impeachment held up any activity on judicial nominations. The last date on which Clinton nominees were confirmed before the impeachment articles were delivered was nearly two months before the articles were delivered (in October when 17 judges were confirmed on the same day) and the earliest date after his acquittal on which any of his nominees were confirmed was two months afterwards, in April.

Pretty easy for McConnell to ignore Harris' request under the circumstances.

Which is why they’re rushing to pass USMCA before the trial starts.
