"After Romney receives his party's nomination in Tampa, Fla., at the four-day convention, he'll have access to about $165 million in general election funds that his campaign will use for the home stretch, mostly on advertising in swing states.
While he clinched the nomination three months ago, Romney hasn't been able to touch that money since it was specifically donated for the general election."

You'd think that he could afford to pay his own way, that he wouldn't expect the government to pick up the tab when he's so rich and all. Doesn't he take a hard line position on accepting government handouts? This entitlement liability of Romney's could easily be rectified if he turned down the money out of principle. Lead by example, Mr. Romney. When you sacrifice the federal election fund money we taxpayers GIFTED you with to run for president, come back again and talk to the rest of us about sacrificing our EARNED benefits. Yes, must be nice to be on the public dole Mr. Romney where you can spend that cash money like a welfare queen on champagne and caviar.

(16,373 posts)Accepting public financing means limiting the amount of funds raised by the campaign to a specify amount. Romney's campaign has claimed to have raised far, far more than that limit. What's going on?
