(9,670 posts)I went back last year to visit and it had really declined in the years that have passed.
My school bus used to drive past Hall of Famer Willie Lanier's modest surburban home, and after the Super Bowl victory a huge sign was in his front yard thanking the fans. This was in the years before big contracts and athletes living in gated communities.

When I look at all the headlines, between trump, the rigged Senate trial, the hacked election servers in Georgia, and all the mass shootings.... I can't help but feel, once again, that I'm witnessing the end of the American experiment.
This "experiment" started out very ugly, now it's ending ugly. Failing. Flaming out in a spectacular display of ignorance, corruption and violence.
I'm frustrated and angry, because it didn't have to be this way. I hope all the politicians and corporations that propped up the NRA and the rightwing hate machine are satisfied. You gained temporary riches, but now we're quickly becoming a failed state.

This is unfortunately another example Moms will be able to give every time we approach our elected lawmakers in Jeff City.
