The pricetag for President Trump's border wall has topped $11 billion or nearly $20 million a mile to become the most expensive wall of its kind anywhere in the world.
In a status report last week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which is overseeing wall construction, reported that $11 billion has been identified since Trump took office to construct 576 miles of a new "border wall system."
And the Trump administration is on the hunt for funding to build even more. The Department of Homeland Security has asked the Defense Department to come up with money for 270 additional miles of border wall that DHS says is needed to block drug smuggling routes on federal land. The Pentagon is studying the request, which did not come with a dollar figure.
If the Trump administration completes all of the wall projects it has set in motion, three-quarters of the U.S. southern border would be walled off from Mexico. The government inherited about 650 miles of border structures erected under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

(24,528 posts)We have to rethink the future. We need immigrant labor to our build walls that protect our population/cultural centers. Unless you think Putin/Trump is the answer.
Lucky for us, it won.t take a lot of money to dismantle this boondoggle.

The Berlin Wall failed.
The Trump Wall will fail too. Eventually.
Migration is the norm for humans. We can try to stop it, but we will not succeed.

At the end of that documentary a Republican mayor who was invited into a car ride with Trump to the airport used the opportunity to press him for comprehensive immigration reform because he actually wants to solve the problem then Trump called him a RINO. I'm not kidding.

(11,885 posts)He's likely getting bribes from it making only those that'll help funnel money into his pockets gets contracts, then using PAC's to hide it and funnel it into his and others pockets . We're very likely paying these bribes with inflated numbers to cover his cut. That's the same model putin in russia has used. Only the corrupt make money under putin. Probably what they were trying to do with the Ukraine gas deal .
