Why is Cippoline defending POTUS against removal?

The White House Counsel represents The Presidency.

Not the President.

Full stop.

(Charles Wendell Colson, White House Counsel in Nixon presidency, did not represent Nixon in impeachment inquiry or trial. He ducked out early by pleading to Obstruction of Justice, thus avoiding the whole mess.)

Addition on edit!

Doesn't seem to be an issue except that there'd be different rules for atty-client privilege. Can't say I fully understand it.

but, since when does Team Trump do what they should do?

Barr should have been recused from a multitude of things and so should many others on Team Trump.
