Appreciated the mention of people getting poisoned by corporate neighbors, but no citizen deserves to have their well-being, their home, and their safety threatened by fracking.

Make it safe or make it stop. Or make corporate fat cats trade houses with those whose fates they would play roulette with.

There IS no way to make fracking safe IMO. Recent article from Wyoming:

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-09-06/fracking-is-safe-except-in-wyoming

This article touches on the issues and puts a human face to it.

So if your well gets contaminated in Wyoming, they'll give you a cistern (ie. a big rain barrel)....

...maybe they'll pick up on it in a later analysis.

Yes Obama was good in general --and we have to be satisfied with the whole convention--a sea change for the Dem party.

BUT ...the coal and natural gas lobbies have gotten to him.

are going to have a field day with this speech. Biden claiming we ended torture. Obama claiming environmental responsibility in view of Keystone. I'll lay off for the moment but know he's going to be called out on these and more.

...but I hope Obama IS challenged about these energy policies in coming days. They are not progressive or long-term, and will only further destroy the air, the water, the land, the animals, the health of humans.

down Carter's from the WH and had we followed Carter's Plan we would not have had these useless wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. Obama does disappoint me here, but he is the only chance we have.

We already know these fuels pollute the environment and are a primary cause of climate change. So why are we so hellbent on coming up with new ways to find even MORE of this crap?

We need a large-scale effort to move away from these fuels completely, and into renewable energy sources. We've made a small start, but it's not nearly enough.

we're like children, if you don't immediately drop dead from something, it's generally regarded as safe.

But, money talks.

I love the folks thinking: (In a ten-year-old's voice) "Myahh, well get off yer computer, myahhh, turn off yer lights."
