And if not...how the hell did that happen?
I didn't watch so I dunno. It seems an uncharacteristic mistake for them to make.

(34,845 posts)They have met their match in Obama. The GOP's dementia will get worse in the near term but they will soon be even less of a force in politics than they are today.

(6,996 posts)Rmoney's speech writers omitted it but the stunning thing is that Rmoney himself didn't notice it.
It's because foreign policy is so off of his radar. He has no experience in world affairs and apparently no interest. He and Ryan are out of their depth, unqualified and wrong for the jobs.
On edit: I would add that military service is also not something that has ever been a part of his life or the lives of any of his five sons. He is oblivious to the sacrifices Americans make.

(21,925 posts)Romney devoted an entire speech to the subject of Afghanistan the day before his convention speech at the VFW. As it turns out, Romney devoted half a sentence to it, mentioning Afghanistan just one time. Period.

(128,905 posts)If you do a search on "troops", "soldier", "Iraq", or "Afghanistan", you will not find these anywhere. He used the word "war" 3 times - once for a description of when he was born (after people came home from war), once when describing how the federal government fed his family as "war refugees" when his father fled Mexico, and once when describing how his 5 boys acted. And if you do a search on "thank", you will only find one instance when he briefly told a side-story to his story about Bain and how one of his colleagues had been responsible for the investments of an Episcopal retirement fund and how the retired priests should be "happy" about this and should "thank" his colleague.

Ok, 9-11 as a verb did show up. but our heroic troops did not find their way to speeches.
What made it into the Romney speech was the obvious upcoming war with Iran... and that goes double for John, he should know better, crazy uncle, McCain.
